Heroes & Villains: The Narrator
Okay, you’re going to have to bear with me through this one. It’s a long trip down logic lane, but I’ve made this argument before. If Atticus Finch is a hero that stands for everything good and noble in this world, The Narrator (Edward Norton) from David Fincher’s 1999 masterpiece Fight Club stands at the opposite end of the hero spectrum. His motives, interests and actions are all purely self-serving, but for any American male living in the late 20th or early 21st century, he is the hero we all need.
